Nominations are being sought for North Hertfordshire ‘Local Heroes’ evening

Hertfordshire’s “unsung lockdown heroes” will be rewarded for their hard work helping others thanks to a Therfield pub’s efforts to spread a little happiness.

Together, with Abode Town & Country estate agents in Royston, The Fox and Duck is hosting an ‘Unsung Lockdown Heroes’ evening on Thursday, 5 May.

Finalists will be treated to a free meal for two and a glass of prosecco upon arrival.

The idea of the evening is to give people the chance to give something back to those who should be recognised for helping others during the coronavirus pandemic.

Ivan Titmuss, landlord of The Fox and Duck, said: “We are delighted to join forces with Abode Town & Country who we would also like to thank for generously sharing the cost of our Unsung Lockdown Heroes evening.

“It is the perfect opportunity for people to give something back to those who have helped make a difference in any way whilst our ‘normal’ way of life has been affected by the coronavirus pandemic.

“We want to hear about all the good work that has been going on behind the scenes and are asking people to get in touch to nominate someone, from NHS staff to the man next door, it can be anyone they think deserves a special thank you.”

People are being asked to submit 250 words to explain why the person they are nominating should win. Nominations can be placed on the Fox and Duck’s website until Wednesday, 14 April and winners will be announced on Friday, 15 April. The dinner will take place on Thursday 5th of May. People cannot nominate themselves.
